The Streaming Platform is Producing a Popular Game TV Series from the Producers of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The newest Far Cry game that players explored was Far Cry 6, which featured Giancarlo Esposito as the villain, Antón, and was released on October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it is known for embracing chaos and madness with similar enthusiasm, all while telling gripping, ideologically themed stories. Little surprise that the network’s decision for a Far Cry seasonal program pulled in two producers whose creations have represented all of those qualities.
About the Series
Adapted from Ubisoft's successful video game property, the self-contained anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The anthology will also follow the video games' structure by having a different backdrop and group of personalities in subsequent series.
Key Producers
Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as showrunners on the series under their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
“FX has had excellent relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is original, compelling, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our associates at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this cherished property.”
What’s Next
Mac will also appear in the show, but as of now, we do not know what part that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently renewed for more episodes, with FX and Disney signing a new long-term contract with the creator.
“Getting to work alongside Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably accommodating, entrusting us with one of the most renowned video-game worlds ever created. And throughout this process, my FX family always encourages me with their constant confidence and support.”
“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an anthology-style show. Every title is a take of a theme, the same way every series of Fargo is a variation on a story,” explained Hawley. “To create a large-scale action show that can shift from year to year, while always examining the nature of people through this multifaceted and chaotic perspective, is a long-held aspiration. I’m eager to partner with Rob and present our mutual bold, visionary style to the screen.”
A schedule for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
