Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hard courts

A resurgent the Russian player secured his initial trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The Russian, a former world number one, has endured a difficult year, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a setback at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and issues with his serve in specific - led to him falling of the elite rankings and finally separating with long-time trainer Gilles Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, he has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set triumph over challenger Moutet.

This represents his first championship after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt after March of the previous year.

The win also indicates Medvedev has secured 21 titles at 21 distinct events.

"It's the first time I'm at a competition with my both daughters at once, so to get a championship is really nice," commented tennis professional the champion.

"This title is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his previous six championship matches, including in Halle earlier this year.

The player's retrieving play style and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had prompted observers to wonder if his skill to perform at the elite level was concluded.

But the athlete has altered his approach in recent weeks, making an effort to approach the net and compete positively, backed up by an improved serve.

The champion recovered from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky Moutet, winning four of the final five points to take the lead.

The competitors traded break points in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his initial tour championship, gained dominance to push for a third set.

He saved 4 initial chances in a tight deciding set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to secure the win.

Appropriately, he clinched the win with a rally at the net, with Moutet unable to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
