Man Utd Manager Ruben Amorim Admits He Can't Escape Poor Record
Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim endures the pressure during their three-one loss at Brentford
Man Utd manager Ruben Amorim admits he is unable to conceal from his disappointing record and says it is expected that club former stars are questioning him.
Recently, United's record scorer Wayne Rooney mentioned during his program that "the heart has gone" from his old team.
The Portuguese manager has managed just 18 victories from his 49 games in charge, featuring nine out of 33 in the English top flight, where he has yet to achieve back-to-back consecutive victories.
Despite the fact that high-level Old Trafford sources are insistent that the club owner continues to be supportive the manager, failure to overcome newly promoted their next opponents on Saturday will spark fresh speculation about his future heading into another fortnight international break.
"It is normal," said the Portuguese coach, when questioned about Rooney's observations. "One cannot escape from the performance."
"Additionally you have the baggage from the previous campaign, [although] last season for me doesn't matter."
Fan Response and Current Circumstances
Manchester United's supporters stayed behind Amorim following last season's disappointing fare, when they ended up 15th in the league - their lowest showing since the 1973/74 relegation campaign - and were defeated in the European final, in the hope that the current campaign would be considerably improved.
Amorim told fans the situation would change because he had additional time to work with his players without the weekly distraction of European competition.
However is not been how the opening six matches have unfolded as Manchester United have endured 3 defeats so far and are currently 14th in the table.
Manager's Response to Concerns
When questioned what promises he could offer fans that the situation will get better, Amorim continued: "It's not moment to speak, it is the moment to show."
"I look at the matches in the current campaign and, for me, they are entirely varied, but I have nothing to comment at this moment."
