British boxer Anthony Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Lagos Following Deadly Road Accident
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, Nigerian authorities confirmed on late Wednesday. The athlete was involved in a car accident outside Lagos on Monday, a devastating event that took the lives of two of his close associates.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
The boxer had been receiving medical attention while healing from his light wounds, representatives stated earlier on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on X that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to leave and heal privately.
“Joshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two friends who passed away as they were being readied to be sent home,” the commissioner stated.
Remembering the Victims
The victims of the crash were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. The official further stated that the champion was filled with sorrow and full of emotions over the passing of his two dear friends.”
The news of his discharge comes as the boxing community offered its support for the star in the wake of the terrible crash.
